Killowen Contracts has successfully completed the redevelopment of the Glenvale Convent in Newry, providing a modernised and welcoming home for the community of Sisters of St Clare.
The project involved the partial demolition of the existing convent, alongside the careful refurbishment of the retained church and surrounding spaces. Works also included the construction of a new extension and associated ancillary works, delivering a high-quality environment that respects the heritage and significance of the site while meeting the needs of its community for years to come.
With extensive experience in the ecclesiastical sector, Killowen Contracts has once again demonstrated its expertise in creating spaces that foster worship, reflection and community connection. The completed development blends traditional architectural features with modern construction standards, ensuring both functionality and longevity.
Throughout the project, close attention was given to preserving the character of the existing buildings while seamlessly integrating new elements. The result is a thoughtfully delivered scheme that enhances the convent’s facilities and provides a peaceful and practical setting for the Sisters of St Clare.
Killowen Contracts is proud to have played a key role in bringing this important project to completion and continues to deliver specialist construction projects across multiple sectors throughout Ireland.
