The Killowen Contracts team congratulates Queen’s University Belfast and the Reboot team of staff on being awarded the prestigious Innovation in Student Experience Award at the 2025 CUBO Awards last month.
The CUBO Awards (College and University Business Officers Awards) celebrate excellence, creativity, and innovation in student and campus services, recognising institutions that lead the way in delivering exceptional campus experiences.
Since opening last year, after an extensive renovation of the former Speakeasy Bar, the state-of-the-art gaming facility and alcohol-free Reboot Café has quickly become a lively and inclusive hub where Queen’s students and the wider community come together to relax, connect, play games, and socialise in a warm and welcoming environment.
This national recognition highlights Reboot Café’s creative and student-centred approach to enhancing campus life through inclusive design, purpose-led programming, and a strong emphasis on wellbeing and community.
Kelly Hart, Campus Food and Drink Manager at Queen’s, commented on the achievement:
“We are really delighted with this award, the fact that we were best in the UK shows that we have developed a concept that is unique and is focused on the student experience.”
