McAuley Building Refurbishment at The Mater Hospital, Belfast

Complete replacement of the rainscreen cladding system to the McAuley Building at the Mater Hospital, including the associated subframe, membranes and insulation.

The refurbishment has improved the building’s thermal performance, weather protection and energy efficiency while extending the lifespan of this important healthcare facility.

Scope of works included removal of the existing rainscreen cladding system, replacement of the supporting subframe, installation of new membranes and insulation, installation of the new rainscreen cladding system.

The works were undertaken while the hospital remained fully operational. Detailed planning, close collaboration and careful phasing were required to minimise disruption and maintain safe access for patients, staff and visitors throughout the programme.

The project demonstrates Killowen Contracts’ experience in delivering complex refurbishment works safely and efficiently within sensitive, live healthcare environments.
