In light of our previous experience and relationship with the estates officers, design details were developed, based on previous project specifications. This facilitated speed of construction and value for money. We were able to agree details on site with estates management early in the programme and order specialist materials (with long lead times) such as acrovyn clad doors early, ensuring completion on time. Variations and ongoing snags were addressed as the work progressed without impacting on the programme or operation of the ward to the south side. The project was finished to a high specification with a snag free handover, permitting immediate and continuous occupancy.
Work involved the full refurbishment of Ward Floor 2 North, the removal of all existing furniture and fixings, replacement of existing external glazing panels using the cradle system operated from the tower roof, replacement of existing doors with new acrovyn clad doors and anti-barricade doors, new wall finishes including Bioclad wall protection, new floor and ceiling finishes, new fitted furniture and builders work in connection with specialist services installations.
The project was completed within a strict programme involving out-of-hours working and decanting patients from one ward to another. Attention to detail and previous experience work was vital to ensuring all materials were ordered on time, providing value for money for our client and successful completion.
